What is global warming? Here are some pictures about global warming

This picture briefly describes how greenhouse gases are release to the atmosphere and cause global warming.

A melting globe

A polar bear on a melting ice due to the rise of temperature during the times of global warming

A graph showing how much the temperature will increase and how sea level will rise due to the melting of ice and glacier .
Global warming is the rise of temperature in the air throughout the whole world when heat energy from the sun was trap in the earth atmosphere by greenhouse gases causing the weather and climate to change over time and cause many harmful effects to people, plants, animals and environment.

What are greenhouse gases? Here are some pictures on greenhouse gases

CFCs: Aerosol can

High amount of carbon dioxide release to the atmosphere during deforestation or forest burning

Nitrous oxide release through the exhaust pipe of vehicles

Methane is released when waste in the landfill decompose
Greenhouse gases are gases that mostly release by foam packaging that deplete the ozone layer causing heat from the sun unable to escape onto the space and trap the heat within the earth atmosphere.

causes of global warming

Over the years, humans have caused global warming to occur due to changing the balance between the Earth time scales and its spatial scales. This has thus caused the influence in temperature change. The most prominent cause to global warming is greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases are cause by humans as they give out the several gases in the atmosphere, mainly: Water vapour, Carbon dioxide, Methane, Surface level ozone, Nitrous Oxides, and fluorinated gases. Humans has used up large amount of aerosols and ozone thus influencing the earth’s climate.

This graph shows how many million metric tons of carbon has been released to the Earth’s atmosphere by the gases.
(Petroleum, coal, natural gas & cement production)

The lower part of the picture shows the sources individually for the gases carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide, respectively. (Graph from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Greenhouse_Gas_by_Sector.png)

Effects of global warmingThe effect of global warming will cause many changes to the environment and human. Global warming will lead to extreme weather. (Eg.when a place has a high amount of rainfall the place may rain or more storms causing many lands to be flooded and cause many fertile lands to be derelict lands and there will be fewer places to farm. Many houses would be destroyed). (Area that has low rainfall may occur more droughts cause cracks in the ground and make it unsuitable for farming people living there may die of thirst).

Consequences of global warmingThere are many negative consequences on the environment, wildlife and mankind. Consequences include melting of pack ice, rise in average sea level, changes in rain patterns, resulting in many floods and droughts in certain areas, increases in the intensity of extreme climate events such as hurricanes and cyclones, unusual changes in the circulation patterns of marine currents, such as the Gulf Stream and the North-Atlantic Drift, which could result in the cooling of certain regions .

Ways to stop global warming in hillgroveWe have to use products that contain less CFCs so teachers is advised to bring their own container to take away foods to the staff room instead of using the Styrofoam box provided by the stallholders. Students are advised to take public transport instead of taking their parents car as less carbon dioxide will be release to the earth atmosphere
